Chalet Q

About the property...

This detached chalet is located in a quiet location with wonderful uninterrupted views across the mountains and up and down the Abondance valley.

Up to nine guests will find plenty of space to enjoy a wonderful mountain holiday at Chalet Q, which has four bedrooms, each with their own spacious bath or shower room.

On the first floor, the master en-suite bedroom features a super king-size bed, and the second bedroom can be either a super king-size or a twin. Both rooms open onto a shared balcony. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite shower room with a WC, and the other has an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and WC.

There are two more bedrooms with spacious en-suite shower rooms on the lower ground floor. Again, both can be arranged with a super king-size bed or twin beds, and both open onto the garden terrace. There's also a separate WC and a laundry room with a washer and dryer on this floor.

All of the bedrooms are beautifully designed, each with different accent colours from a muted, earthy palette that runs throughout the house.

On the ground floor, full-height windows on two sides of the living area flood it with light and give you a wonderful view of the valley and mountains. There are two sofas in the seating area, as well as two leather swivel chairs, so that you can choose between joining in the conversation, watching the television or admiring the view!

The modern kitchen has everything you need to cook for a crowd, and you can eat at the large dining table, on the furnished balcony or at the breakfast bar.

Doors open from the dining area and the seating area onto the balcony – there's room to eat out here, and a barbecue for good weather. There's also a ground floor terrace with a table tennis table, which is accessible from the bedrooms or the stairs at the side of the house.

There are two parking spaces outside the chalet. The garage has been set up as a ski store with a heated boot rack.

About the area...

Chalet Q is in a quiet location just a 15-minute walk from the centre of the Châtel, a popular mountain resort in the Portes du Soleil ski domain. The Super-Châtel / Barbossine and Linga / Pré la Joux/ Plaine Dranse sectors that surround the village have 41 ski lifts and 45 slopes, providing plenty of scope for all ages and abilities.

Châtel is still a traditional farming village, retaining its Savoyard architecture and character. But the growth in ski tourism means it now boasts some wonderful restaurants, both on and off the slopes. There's also a great aquatic centre with spa facilities, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, and a popular indoor play centre for younger children.

In the summer, there is a huge choice of trails for hikers and bikers, and those with a taste for adventure can try the Fantasticable – a zipwire which will have you hurtling between the mountains at up to 100kph.

There are plenty of places to explore around Châtel too – the picturesque medieval village of Yvoire, on the banks of Lake Geneva, is just an hour away and the beautiful Château de Chillon, near Montreux, is even closer.

Châtel is easily accessible from Geneva airport, either by car (about 90 minutes), train or bus. Or you could arrive in style by booking a helicopter transfer!
